How to Remove a Brake Caliper from a Chevy Silverado

Hey guys, what's going on? This is Brian from the YouTube channel Classic G-Body Garage and today I'm going to do a DIY and Drive tutorial for Pull-A-Part Used Auto Parts. All right, so I want to remove the caliper on this 2001 Chevy Silverado and it's held on by a couple of bolts on the back side, one on the top and one on the bottom, and then the brake line here as well. The tools you'll need to remove this caliper is a t-55 torques bit, an 11 millimeter socket, and a 3/8 inch ratchet.

All right, now before going ahead and removing this caliper, I'm going to give you a little tip. These torque bits fit into a torques bolt. The torques bolt is recessed and what happens over time is these torque bolts tend to fill up with dirt and grime and whatever, so a trick here is to get a little screwdriver and just kind of dig out that torques bolt.

Next thing to do is stick the torques bolt in there, get a hammer, and tap it until it's flush into place. Then, go ahead put your ratchet on there and remove it. Bottom ones out and now for the top one. All right, now get your 11 millimeter socket and get the brakeline removed. All right, push the brake line out of the way and this caliper should lift right off of here.

All right, there you go, caliper is removed. All right, got the caliper removed. All it took was removing a couple of bolts, so it really is that easy.
